PHILLIP E CROW - BEST CLUB PERSON - RECIPIENTS
Phil Crow started his involvement with Balnarring Cricket Club playing in the Under 12’s and played through Juniors to Seniors, including Balnarring’s First XI Wicket Keeper. He Won Several Fielding Awards over the years. Phil was lucky enough to play in 2 Senior Premierships the 3rd XI in 1980/81 and the 5th XI in 1990/91.
Sadly, Phil was Diagnosed with Leukaemia in 1987, this impacted Phil’s Cricketing Career missing several years of cricket. However, his love for the Club and the Game didn’t let his illness stop him, as soon as the Doctor gave him permission to play, he was back out in the Club Colours. Due to his illness, he was told Wicket Keeping Would be Dangerous, so he decided to take up bowling which he enjoyed just as much as wicket keeping.
Off the Field, Phil was a Junior coach for several years, and a member of the Club Committee for over 10 Years Including 2 as Club President. Phil Spent Many Hours on weekends during the Cricket Season and the Off Season working around the club to undertake and maintenance or cleaning that was required around the club.
His Love and passion for the club could never be disputed and following his passing in 1995, the Club Committee bestowed the Honour of Naming the Best Club Person after Phil in his recognition and contribution to the Balnarring Cricket Club.
